Hey KDFN!
Solvest is hosting a Community BBQ on Wednesday, August 17, 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. behind Kenädän Kų̀ House of Learning.
KDFN has contracted Solvest to install solar panels on 69 homes in the McIntyre subdivision. These homes were selected because solar panels can only be put on houses with new roofs.
Currently, Solvest is assessing the homes and drawing up designs for the solar panel systems. They plan to install panels on 40 homes this fall and complete the remaining 29 homes in 2023.
Once they’re operational, these solar panels will provide energy directly to the home, lowering energy costs for the tenant. Any excess energy produced will feed into Whitehorse’s grid, and KDFN will receive a rebate from Yukon Energy.
As part of their commitment to KDFN, Solvest is looking to hire and train KDFN Citizens to work on the project as Solar Technicians. This may lead to more full-time opportunities with Solvest in the future!
