KDFN is holding a second Macaulay Road Homes Lottery for the two remaining homes.

The homes are part of Council’s strategy to provide more homeownership opportunities for all  Citizens and Beneficiaries.

The lottery is open to all KDFN Citizens and Beneficiaries, 19 years of age or older.

KDFN has partnered with Canada’s First Nation Market Housing Program and the First Nations Bank of Canada to help KDFN Citizens and Beneficiaries become homeowners.

Open houses and home viewing is being coordinated through ReMax: macaulayroadhomes.ca

Kwanlin Dün First Nation recently built single-family homes on Macaulay Road and Wylie Crescent in McIntyre.

Each house is 753-square feet and includes: two bedrooms, one bathroom, and an open concept kitchen, dining and living area.

KDFN will give lottery winners a $5,000 appliance rebate.

First Nation Market Housing Loan

Pre-Lottery

  • Complete KDFN’s Statutory Declaration to the Citizenship Registrar to confirm KDFN Citizen and/or Beneficiary status
  • Apply for First Nation Market Housing Program through KDFN
  • Confirm no outstanding debt in arrears with KDFN
  • Secure a loan from the First Nation Bank of Canada

Lottery

  • Complete the lottery application

Post-Lottery

  • Sign bank loan and pay back the loan in monthly, or bi-weekly payments. The bank will pay KDFN full sale price on the closing date
  • Receive a license of occupation, granting exclusive rights to use the property. Once the loan is paid, the homeowner will receive a certificate of allocation

Self Finance

Pre-Lottery

  • Complete KDFN’s Statutory Declaration to the Citizenship Registrar to confirm KDFN Citizen and/or Beneficiary status
  • Contact KDFN finance to discuss any debt owing to KDFN

Lottery

  • Complete the lottery application

Post-Lottery

  • Pay full sale price to KDFN on the closing date
  • Receive a certificate of allocation

Eligibility

Who is eligible?

All KDFN Citizens and Beneficiaries, 19 years of age or older are eligible for the program.

Does the house or lot need to be on KDFN settlement land?

Yes, only homes or lots on KDFN Settlement Land qualify for the program.

Can I apply to the program with my non-Beneficiary or non-Citizen partner?

Yes, you and your partner can apply for a loan together.

If approved, the bank will issue a loan and both of you will be responsible for the debt.

Allocations and licenses of occupation can only be held by KDFN Citizens and Beneficiaries. It’s important to have a valid will in place to protect both you and your partner financially.

Macaulay Road Home Lottery#2 applications will be accepted at the Lands Office until Thursday September 1, 2022, 4 p.m.

Applications will not be accepted after the closing time. Any applications received or submitted after the closing time will be considered invalid, and deposits will be returned to the applicant.

Applications will not be accepted by fax or email. Mail-in applications with all documentation and the required deposit, will be accepted but must be received in the office prior to the closing date and time.

All applications will be date and time stamped upon receipt.

Zoning

The Macaulay Road lots are zoned RS, Residential Single Detached. Please reach out to the City of Whitehorse to determine if future plans, such as building a garage, can be accommodated on the lot or not.

The lottery draw will take place on Wednesday, September 7, 11 a.m.

Land Lottery Results

Lottery results will be posted Thursday, September 8, 11 a.m. on www.kwanlindun.com.
